Ladies and gentlemen, Texas Longhorns EVERYWHERE, we have found a Cain and Abels here in Ireland, and it’s fantastic. No, it’s not “$1 beer Tuesdays,” but it’s close to it! Here in Dublin it’s called 2 Euro Tuesdays at Diceys. This is very cheap compared to every other night being 5-9 Euros a drink. I’m getting ahead of myself here, because I’ve failed to mention the most important part of the day…
It was our first day of class today at UCD!
We ventured into the Quinn School of Business at approximately 9:45 this morning and enjoyed a lecture with Professor Love. We also found out our main purpose for being in Dublin this summer and the goals we hope to accomplish.
Basically, we’re building a campaign for the HPV vaccine for Ireland. The Health Services Executive (HSE) introduced the vaccine back in May, but only to a small target audience. Funding was pulled, and complete campaigning is to be released in September. The organization wants us to come up with a communication model to reach girls 11-14 and parents. The interesting part is that 90% of Ireland is Catholic, so we’re focusing on cervical cancer prevention versus “sexually transmitted diseases.” It will be very interesting to study girls here and figure out the best way to reach them on this level.
Now, back to the important part of the blog…our own little Cain and Abels here in Ireland!
The girls and I hit up the town for a night of clubbing at Dicey’s. This is one of the largest clubs on Harcourt street, and features great music and multiple dance floors.
A few euros thrown here and there, we found ourselves rocking out to “Streets of New York.”
One rule when doing this, however, NEVER dance on the tables here. Apparently that’s a strict rule that Dublin “bouncers” don’t take likely to. The girl in our group who did it will forever remain anonymous.
Texas Fight.
