DAY 26

The Cliffs of Moher...

They're in every travel book, on Samantha Brown's "Spots to Visit in Ireland" special, and easily one of the top three things every tourist should accomplish while they're here.

WE.EXPERIENCED.THEM.

And when I say "experience," I truly mean that we did everything in power (sacrifice of sleep, food, and personal hygiene) to make it to Galway and back in one day.

Near impossible you say? Well, we somehow did it, and it goes down as one of my favorite trips I've survived yet.

With that said, I'm exhausted and near the point of total Ireland melt-down. Thus, this blog post is going to be quite different and written in "time-line" form. Words couldn't even do the Cliffs justice anyways, so here we go:

4:30am- We wake up after a night of Baggot Street madness (we had just gotten in around 2:30) to get ready for the bus. Michael hasn't slept yet.

5:00am- Desperately trying to catch a taxi to town for our bus-ride. Michael is nowhere to be found. We contemplate leaving him.

5:22am- Michael shows up in a drunken stooper (sorry folks this isn't a PG blog) and we almost miss the bus.

5:45am- We board the bus to Galway- wohoo!

8:00am- We arrive in Galway, in dyer need of some coffee. We have two hours to kill before our tour. Michael is OF COURSE still tipsy and seeking a liquor store nearby to decrease an increasing hangover.

IRISH LAW- no alcohol before 10:30am. Michael learns this the hard way from a wonderfully passive aggressive store owner.

Here are some GREAT pics of Galway:

10:15am- Board the tour bus to Clare Coast. We stop at some beautiful little spots along the way:

12:15pm- Break for lunch and some much needed milk as we have crying children on board our bus. Texas fight.

2:30- Arrive at the Cliffs of Moher. It's a bit foggy out, but you can still see the ocean-line through the mist. The view is breathtaking, and I'm definitely coming back one day to experience it during clear skies.

3:30- Hop on the bus for the ride back to Galway. Again, we stop at some gorgeous spots along the Clare Coast:

5:30pm- Arrive in Galway. We have two hours until our bus-ride home, so we decide to fill our time the Irish way and find a pub. We find the BEST PUB ever! Cheap drinks and "hen" specials for Steph and myself. Thank you Fibber Magees.

7:15pm- We don't want to leave Galway at this point. In fact, we want to stay in Galway for the duration of the trip and soak in night-life in all its essence. Michael insists otherwise, and boards the bus with his whisky and coke.

7:45pm- We almost get kicked off the bus.

10:00pm- We arrive back in Dublin for a night of debauchery and fun with our new Texas friend.

And that, my dear readers, is how you do the Cliffs of Moher in one, solid day.

Texas fight.
